Jan Joosten is a Founding Partner at Pierson Ferdinand LLP, a distributed, full-service law firm. Mr. Joosten previously was a partner at FisherBroyles, LLP, the General Counsel of Neogene Therapeutics, Inc., a partner in the New York office of Baker McKenzie and before that at Hughes Hubbard & Reed, LLP, also in New York. He specializes in corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and venture capital transactions. In addition, he has extensive experience in representing Dutch and other European companies that do business in the United States in a broad range of matters. He has lectured extensively on topics such as U.S. securities law, mergers and acquisitions in the U.S. by foreign companies, and differences between the Dutch and U.S. legal systems.

Born in the Netherlands, Mr. Joosten received a Master of Civil Law and a Master of Tax Law at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands in 1991. He received an LL.M. from Harvard Law School in 1992. Mr. Joosten is a member of the New York bar. He serves as a director and the President of the Leiden University Fund (U.S.A.), Inc. Mr. Joosten has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2003. From 2003-2012, he served as Secretary and as a member of the NAF’s Education Committee. From 2012-2018, he served as Chair of the NAF and on various NAF committees. Mr. Joosten currently serves on the Friends Fund Committee and the Nominating Committee.
