The Peace Palace
A better world – that’s what we work for at the Peace Palace. The International Court of Justice, the Permanent Court of Arbitration, the Hague Academy of International Law and the Carnegie Foundation including the Peace Palace Library daily practice “Peace through Law”. All these institutions contribute to maintaining peace, security and stability.
Carnegie Foundation
The Carnegie Foundation was created in 1903 to ensure that the Peace Palace serves world peace. To that end, we own and maintain the Peace Palace in order to facilitate the courts and the academy so they can settle international conflicts peacefully. In addition, we work towards a better world by convening, educating and inspiring people. To fulfill this mission, the Carnegie Foundation has formulated four strategic directions:
Peace through Law
We facilitate the courts and the Peace Palace Library
Peace through Education
We develop educational programs and educate the public through our Visitor Centre and guided tours.
Peace through Dialogue
We organize events promoting peace and international cooperation and recognize Peace Heroes of our time through a Peace Prize and a Youth Peace Award.
Peace through Culture
We showcase and maintain the monumental building and its art collection, which together have earned the European Heritage Label.
How can you support the Peace Palace?
- Become a Friend
Become a Friend of the Peace Palace and support the work of the Carnegie Foundation to maintain the Peace Palace as Temple of Peace. You can already become a Friend of the Peace Palace from €50 per year.
- Support a Project
In collaboration with The Hague Academy of International Law, we established an exclusive program for law firms and lawyers dedicated to financially supporting the work of the Academy, the Carnegie Foundation – Peace Palace, and its Library.
Contributions to our Lawyers for the Academy, the Peace Palace and its Library program will be used for the organization of key educational activities, the maintenance and development of library resources, as well as maintenance of this heritage site for the benefit of future generations, and, more specifically, the international law community as a whole.
- Single donation
It is also possible to support the Carnegie Foundation Peace Palace with a single donation of your choice. Your contribution will be used for special projects and the maintenance of the Peace Palace. Any contribution, large or small, is most welcome.
