Hugo P. Verdegaal

Mr. Verdegaal retired as a Managing Director from Citigroup where he spent his entire professional career as an Investment Banker serving clients in the Emerging Markets. In this capacity he directed the completion of a large number of debt, equity and M&A transactions for large private and government- owned corporations.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Verdegaal was a member of the Citigroup team leading, on behalf of the global banking industry, the external debt re-negotiations of Brazil. During this 5 year period he was based in Sao Paulo. In addition, he managed the secondary market trading desk for restructured emerging country loans.

After his retirement and until April 2016, Mr. Verdegaal served as a member of the Board of Directors of Corpbanca S.A. a NYSE listed company based in Santiago, Chile.

Mr. Verdegaal was born in Sassenheim, The Netherlands into a family with deep roots in the flower bulb industry. He graduated in 1972 with a Masters Degree from the Netherlands School of Economics (presently Erasmus University) in Rotterdam. After serving as an officer in the Dutch Artillery, he moved to the USA where he obtained an MBA from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. After graduating, Mr. Verdegaal joined the then First National City Bank in New York.

Having remained a Dutch citizen, Mr. Verdegaal resides in New York City and Spring Lake, New Jersey.
