The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. The program was established in 1946 under legislation introduced by Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas.
The NAF-Fulbright brings scholars from the Netherlands and the United States to exchange in each other’s respective country to pursue opportunities to study, conduct research, exchange ideas, and contribute to finding solutions to shared international concerns. This exchange follows in the NAF’s mission of strengthening ties between the two countries. Since the partnership between Fulbright and the NAF began, nearly 600 students and researchers have traveled from the US to the Netherland or Netherlands to the US for an academic exchange, producing experts across all disciplines.
