A Dutch View on the Biggest Explosions in the Universe

The DC Chapter of the NAF invites you to a combined happy hour and general audience lecture on the biggest explosions in the Universe, at the historic building of The Fund for American Studies.

If you are curious about the most extreme objects and environments in the Universe, exploding and colliding stars, black holes, and where gold and platinum are formed; and if you would like to know how Dutch astronomers and telescopes are contributing to our knowledge in this area of cosmic exploration, this free lecture is for you! No prior knowledge is required and there will be ample time for questions.

Audience members will be able to enjoy some drinks and snacks during this interactive lecture; and there will be an opportunity for engaging conversations afterwards. The lecture will be given by NAF DC board member Alexander van der Horst, Associate Professor of Astrophysics and Chair of the Physics Department at The George Washington University, and a regular speaker at Profs & Pints and Astronomy on Tap in DC.
