The Peter Stuyvesant Ball is an annual elegant and festive black tie event, at which diplomatic envoys, influential leaders and friends of the Dutch-American community from both sides of the pond gather in support of the NAFs crucial and vital activities. This year’s Ball should be particularly fun and vibrant as it celebrates the Avant-Garde — a fitting theme given the Netherlands’ preeminence in the cultural vanguard. Avant-Garde: people or works that are experimental or innovative, particularly with respect to art, culture, and politics; often playful, modernist, in the vanguard.  For suggestions on adding “flourish” to your black tie, please click here.

The Peter Stuyvesant Ball is the single largest source of funding for the NAF, the foremost bilateral foundation initiating and supporting high-impact exchanges between the Netherlands and the United States.

Your participation in the event will support our commitment to two important programs of the NAF:

  • Education through the NAF-Fulbright Fellowships awarded to highly talented Dutch and American students pursuing graduate level studies at universities in each others’ countries.
  • Culture through grants to emerging and established visual and performing artists, architects and designers, writers, historians, translators and for historic preservation, to increase the exchange of talent between the U.S. and the Netherlands.

This black tie event (with a flourish of the Avant-Garde) begins with cocktails at 7:00 pm, followed by a dinner and dancing at 8:15 pm culminating with the nightclub “Freddy’s Bar” hosted by Heineken USA, featuring bartender Jan-Gert Jansen from Freddy’s bar the Hotel De L’Europe in Amsterdam. (Entry included in fully paid Ball Tickets)

Tickets (required) to attend the Freddy’s Bar Nightclub only, from 11:30 PM to 1:30 AM featuring DJ Chris Ford, can be purchased separately. Coat and Tie required. (NO ENTRY WITHOUT RESERVATION)
