HARRY, Heine in Holland is a program of songs written by 19th-century Dutch composers on German texts by the renowned poet Heinrich Heine, who before his fame was simply known as “Harry.” The program was recorded on CD two years ago, complete with an Audiobook of Heine’s memoirs, read by Dutch novelist Arnon Grunberg. The CD received highest praise in the Dutch press.

For more information on Harry: Heine in Holland, press reviews and bio’s of the two performers please continue reading here. Listen to a song from the CD here. The CD/Audiobook set will be available for sale at the performances.

Both events are supported, in part, by a Cultural Grant from the Netherland-America Foundation.

Dutch bass-baritone Marc Pantus, most recently praised by Swiss national press for his “brilliant” singing and acting in Rossini’s opera La Gazzetta, is at home in opera as well as oratorio and concert repertoire. This season he sang Bach’s Magnificat with the renowned ensemble Vox Luminis, Don Profondo in Rossini’s Il Viaggio a Reims with the Dutch National Opera, and a series of three concerts with Schubert Lieder.

Please note: On the weekend of October 7-9, Marc Pantus is a featured soloist in the St. Matthew Passion with California Bach Society, in San Francisco, Palo Alto, and Berkeley. More information and tickets here.

Marc Pantus received high praise from San Francisco Classical Voice for his performance of the bass solos with California Bach Society on the weekend of October 7 to 9:
“Among the soloists bass baritone Marc Pantus stood out. Singing the roles of Peter and Pilate, he brought a deeply felt texture to the dual tasks. His voice, at once rich and slightly raw, captured the disciple’s anguish and the more measured but compelling moral torment of the Roman leader whose actions lead to Christ’s crucifixion.” Read the full review here.
