Welcome to the NAF, Washington, DC
The NAF Washington, D.C. is a platform for a wide range of Dutch-American business, cultural and charitable activities in Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland. The NAF Washington D.C. operates as a committee of the Netherland-America Foundation. The chapter works closely with the Netherlands Embassy to the United States, the Congressional Caucus on the Netherlands, the Nederlandse Vereniging / DC Dutch, and the Dutch-American business community. - In collaboration with the Netherlands American Business Council and the Netherlands America Chamber of Commerce for the Washington Metro area we sponsor regular events of professional interest to our members and offer a unique platform for Dutch-American networking in the nation’s capital.
- We oversee social and cultural activities ranging from happy hours to concerts and lectures, often with preferential access and pricing for NAF members.
- Since 1991, the annual black-tie Netherland-America Foundation Ambassadors’ Awards Dinner has celebrated Dutch-American heritage and friendship and honored individuals who have made outstanding contributions to strengthening the bonds of commerce, culture and education between the United States and The Netherlands. Keynote speakers over the years have included U.S. Representative Chris van Hollen, former U.S. Representative Pete Hoekstra, General David H. Petraeus, and Mr. Jan Peter Balkenende, former Prime Minister of the Netherlands. A portion of the Awards Dinner’s proceeds supports Washington DC scholarships and internships for Dutch students through the Fund for American Studies.
- Finally, as a charitable organization operating both in the United States and The Netherlands, the NAF supports a wide range of educational and cultural programs, including scholarships, artist exchanges, concerts, exhibitions and research and book projects.
