What does the NAF do for You?
If you’re Dutch, Dutch-American or just like The Netherlands, the Netherland-America Foundation has already enriched the life you live here in Southern California. In the spheres of Education, Culture, and Business, your local NAF chapter supports a variety of activities throughout the year to help strengthen ties between the United States and The Netherlands; thereby bringing some Dutch atmosphere— but, thankfully, not Dutch weather— to the Southland.
We’re the NAF SoCal. Our chapter contributes to Dutch Studies at UCLA as well as Dutch School LA, which provides language instruction to local kids. In May, the NAF SoCal hosts winners of the Princess Christina Competition at a special concert for Southern California classical music fans. Every November our Annual Gala commemorates Dutch American Heritage Day where we honor a Dutch American whose work has enriched the world. Past honorees have included artists, business leaders, filmmakers, journalists and scientists. More than just an opportunity to dress up and enjoy an elegant evening, proceeds from the gala funds the work of the NAF SoCal year round; and also supports the research of USC’s Dr. Martin Kast in the fight against cervical cancer.
Throughout the year NAF-Biz Talks cover Dutch developments in the high-tech, real estate and entertainment sectors. And our business-oriented members enjoy valuable networking opportinities at these events. You’ll also see us at local Dutch King’s Day and Sinterklaas celebrations. Say hallo; we’d love to welcome you as a member; a tax-deductable contribution of $100.00 will help support the NAF’s programs and initiate your NAF SoCal membership.
