Bob van Schoonenberg’s great-grandfather came to the United States from the Netherlands in the second half of the nineteenth century and settled inWisconsin.
Bob heads up Avery Dennison’s business development, law, patent and trademark, risk management, and environmental, health and safety departments and chairs the Company’s mergers and acquisitions committee. He joined Avery Dennison in 1981 and became executive vice president in 2000.
Before joining Avery Dennison, Bob was with Gulf Oil Corporation in Los Angeles and in Pittsburgh. He served in the United States Army, military intelligence, in Münich, Germany from 1969 to 1971.
Bob serves on the boards of a number of national and local professional organizations including the American Corporate Counsel Association, American Society of Corporate Secretaries and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. He is a member of the California and Florida State Bars. In addition, he is on the board of directors of a number of charitable organizations.
Bob’s educational background includes a B.A. from Marquette University, a M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin and a J.D. from the University of Michigan. Bob, his wife, Sandra, and two sons, Blake and Ryan live in La Canada-Flintridge.
