Board Members and Meetings
Our board is composed of volunteers. The composition of the board is diverse – ranging from old-timers to new arrivals.
Executive Committee members meet monthly/Board members meet bi-annually to plan new events and manage the affairs of the club.

Jeff A.N. Keasberry
Jeff Keasberry is a Los Angeles-based entrepreneur, event consultant, chef, culinary writer, photographer and best selling author of two cookbooks published in the Netherlands.
Jane Scholte Iovine (Joke) was born in the Netherlands, and as a child immigrated with her family to Canada . She came to the US to study at Calvin College, in Grand Rapids, MI. (BA) and grad school at the University of Chicago, there she received an MA from the School of Social Service Administration. She is an LCSW, and BCD – Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work.
Because of the cold weather in Chicago, she came to California in Jan 1969 to visit her brother, saw green grass and palm trees for the first time in her life, and decided to settle here immediately. She worked in Social Work, first investigating child abuse in a pilot program for LA County, then in various medical social work positions like crisis intervention in ERs, family planning, and Director of Medical Social Services for LA County Crippled Children Services and the Medical Social Service Director at White Memorial Medical Center.
Jane has extensive experience working with non profit organizations including the National Charity League, serving on the San Fernando Chapter’s board as treasurer for several years. She has also served on several homeowners association boards in different capacities, and served as treasurer for the Netherlands American Society of Southern California for 5 years before moving over to the NAF.
Marcel van Zweeden
Marcel Van Zweeden is CEO of Shortcut Software, located in Lake Forest/Irvine in Southern California. Shortcut Software is focused on software for digital photography and distributing the software in various retail channels across the nation. Also, due to the recent movement in mobile communications among consumers, the company is positioning itself by offering Apps to corporate clients.
Marcel is well travelled in Asia, Europe & United States and has a good track record of creating strategic alliances with business partners. Marcel was born in 1970 in Vlissingen, The Netherlands, and after obtaining his Bachelor Degree from Vlissingen HEAO University (Sales/Marketing & Finance) and a business degree from Oxford England, he moved to the United States in 1996. He worked 6 years for Transcend Information (publicly listed in Taiwan) which is a manufacturer of high-end memory & storage solutions. As the Vice President of Sales & Marketing, he developed various international and domestic markets by building key alliances with strategic partners. In 2003 he was assigned by SimpleTech (Nasdaq Symbol STEC) to set up the European headquarters in Hoofddorp, The Netherlands.
In 2005 he became an equity partner in Shortcut Software and the company presented their products at various trade events in Europe & United States. Marcel travels frequently to the Netherlands and is still well connected to Dutch/European corporate life. His interests and participation was also in various financial service organizations & real estate ventures.
Marcel is residing with his family in Dana Point and has 2 beautiful daughters Charlotte & Francoise. He enjoys outdoor activities such as sailing, golf and mountain biking.
Ronald J. Smit
Since 2011, Ronald has been West Coast Manager for Chrysal Americas, a 100% daughter company of Chrysal International in Naarden, the Netherlands. Chrysal has for more than 80 years supplied premium flower care products which condition cut flowers for optimal quality around the world.
Ronald was born May 1st 1962 in Oud-Karspel a town just north of Alkmaar and grew up in Zuidbroek Groningen. After graduation from RMTuS, Emmen Ronald became partner in his family nursery business. During this period Ronald was active board member of a labor pool organization providing skilled labor to nursery members and was an appraiser for Hagel Unie insurance company for 8 years.
After 10 years it was time to broaden his horizon and he became an expatriate in Malaysia as a specialist/agronomist in the local horticultural industry. This work brought him to neighboring countries like Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines and others.
In 2000 arose the opportunity to relocate to Carpinteria, California to become the cultivation specialist for a well respected breeder of roses and gerberas. This function involved frequent travel throughout North America and South America.
Since 2003 living in Fillmore California with his wife Charlotte.
In his free time Ronald enjoys traveling and walking the dog, Formula 1 racing and stock investing.
Alex Swart was born in Amsterdam and immigrated with his family to the United States when he was two years old. His parents instilled in him an appreciation of Dutch language, history and culture.
He graduated from the University of California at San Diego with a BA in Visual Arts and earned a Master’s Degree in Television from San Diego State University.
Alex co-founded his eponymous agency, SwartAd, in 1996. The agency’s main focus is creative advertising in the form of branding, on screen, digital, outdoor and print. Alex was twice chosen to design the official poster for the Oscars®, as well as various iterations of the Academy’s Best Picture poster. His work has been recognized with numerous marketing awards.
Alex remains active writing design curriculum and is an adjunct faculty member at California State University, Northridge. He is a member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
Lawrence van der Vegt
Lawrence was born in Edmonton Canada by Dutch emigrants and was raised in The Netherlands. After graduating from college in the Netherlands with a degree in electrical engineering and data communications, Lawrence held various executive positions with fiber optic test instrumentation companies in the Netherlands, overlooking the European market.
In 1998 Lawrence moved with his wife and two young children to California to continue his career in fiber optic test instrumentation, gaining global responsibility. Lawrence is well traveled with over 25 years of global fiber optic business development. He is currently regional Manager North America with Yenista Optics Inc. a French manufacturer of high end research and development type of fiber optic test instrumentation, based out of Newbury Park.
Lawrence and his wife Rian have two sons Yuri and Nick, and live with their youngest son Nick in Newbury Park. In his free time, he enjoys computer programming, web design, mountain biking and hiking.
Guido Keijzers is Vice President Engineering and Development at Del West USA, leading manufacturer of engine components for clients in Formula 1, Nascar, Le Mans, and other racing leagues. Guido’s task is to support manufacturing operations with analytical laboratory operations, providing technical solutions, managing engineering operations and communicating with clients to push technology forward.
Guido was born January 16, 1969 in Koudekerk, a small town close to Leiden, The Netherlands. He received his high school education at the Stedelijk Gymnasium Leiden, after which he continued at the Delft University of Technology to receive his Master’s degree in Material Science and Engineering. During his studies at the university he was active member at the fraternity ‘Delftsch Studenten Corps’, and was boardmember of the athletics club, the faculty board representing graduate and PhD students and the World- and Olympic-class rowing club ‘Laga’.
After his graduation Guido worked in Haarlem as a design engineer at the European Headquarters of Fluor Corporation, an American (petro-)chemical engineering contractor. He was involved in projects for Shell, De NAM and Eastman Chemical, and part of the taskforce to implement a multidisciplinary software suite for all Fluor offices worldwide.
He resigned after three years to move to his fiancée Monica in California. They got married shortly after in 1998, and he started working for Del West USA. Guido and Monica have one daughter, Fiorella.
In his free time Guido enjoys mountain biking in the local hills; He combines this with volunteering as a mountain bike patrol ranger, to assist park rangers in local state and federal parks.
Martin Perlberger, a USA citizen, born in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, has entertainment industry, international, real estate, and commercial experience.
Academic: Stanford University: A.B. Economics & Political Science, varsity polo and sailing, KZSU radio newscaster, ASSU summer EXCOM; Columbia Law School; Stanford Law School: J.D., Order of the Coif.
Admitted: California, District of Columbia, New York and U.S. Supreme Court.
Law Practice: 2 years with David Lloyd Kreeger, Washington DC; 20 years with Kaplan, Livingston, Goodwin, Berkowitz & Selvin, Beverly Hills, CA; established California office of Marshall, Bratter, Greene, Allison & Tucker (New York); Perlberger Law Offices.

Dick van Hoepen
After graduating from college in the Netherlands with a degree in Dairy Technology,
Dick joined the international staff of Nestle,SA in Switzerland. After different managerial postings in respectively Jamaica, Panama, Malaysia, Singapore, South Africa and USA.
Dick worked the last few years of his career at the head office in Vevey, Switzerland. There he was in charge of all the technical training and the liaison of technical personnel in the world.
In that capacity he reported to the Board. He retired in 1997 in Switzerland after 40 years of service with the Company and returned to California in April 1999.
In November 2014 Dick was honored for his work on the board and organizing 10 annual concert tours of laureates of the Prinses Christina Concours in the Netherlands and became a member of the Dutch American Hall of Fame of the NAF,Socal.
Anne T. Woollett is Curator of Paintings at the J. Paul Getty Museum, where she specializes in Northern painting before 1700. She received her Ph.D. from Columbia University in 2004. She has lectured and published extensively on sixteenth and seventeenth- century Dutch and Flemish painting. Since joining the Museum in 1998, she has organized several exhibitions at the Getty Center, including Rembrandt’s Late Religious Portraits (2005), and Drama and Devotion: Heemskerck’s ‘Ecce Homo’ Altarpiece from Warsaw (2012-13), and co-authored the accompanying catalogues. Recent publications include focus studies on collecting Rembrandt in Southern California.
